Mary Ann's (1960-2021)
1937 Beacon Street, Cleveland Circle
Before craft cocktails and small plates, there was Mary Ann's - Brighton's beloved dive where BC students learned life's hardest lessons over $2 drafts and sticky floors. For over 60 years, this Cleveland Circle institution served as an unofficial freshman orientation center, senior graduation hall, and everything in between.
Known affectionately as "MA's," it was where fake IDs met their match, where countless romance stories began (and ended), and where the phrase "I'll never drink again" was uttered every Sunday morning. The wood-paneled walls, the legendary bathroom line, and that worn-out Eagles song on the jukebox - it wasn't just a bar, it was a Brighton rite of passage. Even after BC students graduated, they'd return to MA's, if only to remember why they stopped going to MA's.
